Company History

June 2011 An Endowed Chair for Electric Power Network Innovation by Digital Grid, led by Rikiya Abe, is established at the University of Tokyo
September 2011 The Digital Grid Consortium is established as a not-for-profit corporation based on the findings of the above research project.
November 2012 The Digital Grid Router Mark I, II, and III prototypes are created by the consortium. Digital Grid Corporation is established based on the results.
April 2017 The “Internet of Energy” Social Cooperation Program is established at the University of Tokyo following the expiration of the Presidential Endowed Chair.
October 2017 Digital Grid Platform Corporation is established with funding from corporate participants in the Social Cooperation Program.
December 2017 Digital Grid Platform Corporation receives Digital Grid Corporation’s domains, trademarks, etc. Digital Grid changes the focus of its business to providing renewable energy to off-grid areas in Africa and changes its name to Wassha Inc.
December 2017 Digital Grid Platform Corporation changes its name to Digital Grid Corporation.
January 2018 Digital Grid Corporation relocates to the Marunouchi Building (Chiyoda, Tokyo).
March 2018 Digital Grid Corporation is commissioned to execute a Low Carbon Technology Research, Development and Demonstration Program by the Ministry of the Environment for FY2018 entitled “Digital Grid Router (DGR) and Power Interchange Settlement System to Accelerate the Introduction of Renewable Energy (Year Two),”   serving as the representative organization.
March 2018 The company is commissioned to execute a Blockchain-enabled Renewable Energy Carbon Reduction Pilot Project for FY2018 by the Ministry of the Environment entitled “Trial of a Digital Grid-Based B2B System for Trading and Settling the Carbon REduction Value (CREV) of Self-consumed Renewable Energy (Year One),” serving as the representative organization.
